The show so nice we're playing it twice!

Well, our performance at Book Zoo in February was pret-ty fun. And nostalgic types that we are, we're returning to the scene of the crim-inally enjoyable show:

Team Nisto, The Parents, and the Bay Area Writers Project
Book Zoo at 6395 Telegraph Ave, Oakland
April 23rd, 2010 at 7pm
Donations requested (band share goes to BAWP)

The order shall be BAWP reader, Team Nisto, BAWP reader, BAWP reader, The Parents. Any donation you can make will really help both the Bay Area Writers Project and a great neighborhood book store. And the corner store next door can satisfy your snacking / drinking needs.

Guys: we're going totally libermanic, completely biblio-crazed for this show.

Team Nisto made some fantastic fliers that look like a dime store romance novel; you can see the cover of one of them at their myspace, but you'll need to track one down in person for the full page-turning experience.

And we Parents are each busily crafting book cover t-shirts for ourselves — so we can be books in the zoo! We thought about making this some kind of surprise, but really, we Parents-as-books don't want to be just four lone books in a small-time zoo, we want to be part of a full-on Books-In-Zoo PARTY.

So find yourself a favorite book (perhaps one with a classy 60's monochromatic cover design), and get to work with your silkscreens, iron-on letters, inkjet transfers, sharpies, or whatever else you need to come be books with us!

If you want us to let you know when something's coming up, or if you'd like to help book something, or if you'd like advice on becoming a book, send a little note to shout@theparents.org

The Parents are Emily, Sara, Sean, and Chris.

We're a four-piece indie pop/rock band of Chicago-expats who used to play in the same music scene from 2000-2007. We promote our shows, set up quickly, and only rarely leave equipment behind.

We've got a (particularly fun and crowded) Tuesday at El Rio, a Sunday BBQ at The Stork Club, a Saturday benefit at The Starry Plough for the Children's Hospital of Oakland Patient Care Fund, and a Halloween show at the Stork Club (as the Mamas and the Papas), and an awesome Friday playing with the Old-Fashioned Way at The Hemlock Tavern under our belt.

Emily (ex-Passerines) plays guitar/bass.

Sara (ex-Go Away Please Stay, Passerines, Starlister, Health&Beauty) plays keyboard/melodica.

Sean (ex-First Coat, the 68s, the Paraleisural Uninsurance Temp Agency, Fulton Pyser) plays bass/guitar.

Chris (ex-Cola Wars, Millimeters Mercury, Zinc Finger & the Major Groove) plays drums.
Of course we have a myspace profile!
(it's still listed under our old band name, though)
